Job Overview:
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi is seeking a Manager β Book Publications to lead and coordinate the end-to-end publishing of childrenβs books and reading materials. The role will oversee manuscript development, editing, illustration, design, printing, distribution, and archiving while ensuring that publications are high-quality, inclusive, culturally relevant, and aligned with foundational learning and literacy goals.
Key Responsibilities:
– Manage the complete publishing cycle, from concept development and manuscript selection to printing, distribution, and archiving.
– Coordinate calls for manuscripts and illustrations and facilitate review and selection processes.
– Organize workshops and mentoring sessions for writers and illustrators.
– Coordinate with writers, illustrators, editors, designers, and printers to finalize publications.
– Oversee book design, layout, pre-press preparation, proofing, and printing quality.
– Ensure publications meet established content, design, production, branding, and copyright standards.
– Support book leveling and categorization to ensure age-appropriate and reading-level alignment.
– Manage distribution of books to schools, libraries, project sites, and partners.
– Maintain accurate publishing records, metadata, archives, and physical/digital inventory.
– Build partnerships with publishers, literacy organizations, government departments, and education-sector stakeholders.
– Represent ITA at book fairs, exhibitions, workshops, and literacy-related forums.
– Contribute to publishing budgets, procurement, expense tracking, and financial documentation.
– Prepare progress reports, workshop summaries, and documentation for internal and donor reporting.
Eligibility & Requirements:
– Education: Bachelorβs degree in Education, Publishing, Language, Fine Arts, Communication, or a related field. Masterβs degree preferred.
– Experience: 3β5 years of relevant experience in book publishing, childrenβs book development, or educational content production.
– Strong understanding of Pakistanβs publishing industry and childrenβs literature landscape.
– Hands-on experience with manuscript development, editing, design, pre-press, printing, and distribution.
– Strong communication, coordination, organizational, and documentation skills in English and Urdu.
– Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience conducting writersβ or illustratorsβ workshops.
– Experience working with NGOs, literacy initiatives, or public education systems.
– Knowledge of book leveling systems and foundational literacy frameworks.
– Established networks within the publishing and education sectors.
