Job Description โ€“ Purchase Engineer

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase Engineer to join our team in the UAE. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage the procurement cycleโ€”sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services from reliable suppliers, distributors, and OEMs. The Purchase Engineer will ensure that procurement activities meet project requirements in terms of cost, quality, and delivery schedules while maintaining compliance with company policies and client standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Supplier Sourcing
Review purchase requisitions from internal departments.
Identify and develop a strong supplier base (local & international).
Float enquiries, evaluate quotations, and prepare techno-commercial comparisons.
Negotiation & Order Management
Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and warranty/after-sales support.
Finalize purchase orders in compliance with company policies.
Track order acknowledgements, shipment, and delivery progress.
Vendor Relationship Management
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, OEMs, and distributors.
Monitor supplier performance with respect to quality, cost, and delivery.
Resolve issues related to late deliveries, non-compliance, or quality deviations.
Cost & Inventory Control
Work closely with the estimation and project teams to ensure procurement is aligned with project budgets.
Optimize purchasing costs while maintaining quality standards.
Coordinate with warehouse/logistics for stock and delivery management.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain procurement records (quotations, purchase orders, contracts, vendor lists).
Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, Incoterms, and company policies.
Prepare periodic procurement status reports for management.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related discipline).
Experience:
3โ€“5 years of relevant procurement experience in the UAE/GCC within Oil & Gas, Energy, EPC, Industrial Supplies, or Trading sectors.
Strong supplier/vendor network within the region.
Proven track record in handling RFQs, POs, and vendor negotiations.
Skills:
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Good knowledge of supply chain processes and international trade terms (Incoterms).
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ERP systems experience is an advantage.
Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus).

Ability to handle multiple purchase orders simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
Familiarity with local and international supplier networks in Oil & Gas, Energy, or Industrial Supplies will be a major advantage.
